Designing an Adaptive, Ethical Learning Ecosystem Using the LEIF Framework (LEIF)

I. Module Overview

Module Purpose

This learning module introduces adult learners to the Learning Ecosystem Integration Framework (LEIF), a systems-based approach for designing adaptive, ethical, and accessible learning environments. Through a sequence of scaffolded Canvas-based activities, learners analyze theoretical foundations, explore ethical and accessibility considerations, construct ecosystem maps, and ultimately design a complete LEIF learning ecosystem prototype.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  1. Explain the foundational principles and theoretical underpinnings of LEIF.

  2. Analyze ethical, accessibility, and equity considerations in ecosystem design.

  3. Map the core components of a learning ecosystem using systems-thinking principles.

  4. Design a LEIF-aligned adaptive learning ecosystem prototype.

  5. Evaluate the effectiveness of an ecosystem prototype using structured criteria.

Expectations for Learners

Learners will engage in readings, discussions, knowledge checks, peer critique, and a summative design project. A complete LEIF prototype and reflective self-evaluation are required for module completion.
